• Established 1864 under the name of “Compania de Agencias de Costa Rica” it was dedicated to the Import/export business; Banking; Ship Agencies and Custom’s Brokerage.

• In 1893 the Northern Railway Company concludes the construction of the railway and pier and takes control of all shipping and land transport activity in Costa Rica.  The company faces a mayor crisis due to the unfair competition and it is consequently sold to two of the shareholders, Mr. Roberto Jimenez-Saenz and Mr. Felipe J. Alvarado.

 

 

• In 1895 the name is changed to Felipe J. Alvarado & Cia. Sucs. de Agencias  y Comisiones S.A. The actual commercial name of the Holding Company is also known as “Felipe J. Alvarado Group

•Today this is a single family owned company and Mr. Roberto Jimenez-Soto, grand-son of Mr. Roberto Jimenez-Saenz, is today’s CEO & Pres.

• For the twenty one century, FJAPANDI, also known as “Felipe J. Alvarado Group”, is a port agency in Costa Rica, that offer several services as a P&I club correspondent, ship brokers, P&I club survey inspection, and legal maritime services. FJAPANDI works for the whole centralamerican region, included Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.

FJAPANDI has been there, working has port agency, ship agency and brokerage, across three centuries.
