Our History - Highlights
• Established 1864 under the name of “Compania de Agencias de Costa Rica” it was dedicated to the Import/export business; Banking; Ship Agencies and Custom’s Brokerage.
• In 1893 the Northern Railway Company concludes the construction of the railway and pier and takes control of all shipping and land transport activity in Costa Rica. The company faces a mayor crisis due to the unfair competition and it is consequently sold to two of the shareholders, Mr. Roberto Jimenez-Saenz and Mr. Felipe J. Alvarado.
• In 1895 the name is changed to Felipe J. Alvarado & Cia. Sucs. de Agencias y Comisiones S.A. The actual commercial name of the Holding Company is also known as “Felipe J. Alvarado Group”
•Today this is a single family owned company and Mr. Roberto Jimenez-Soto, grand-son of Mr. Roberto Jimenez-Saenz, is today’s CEO & Pres.
• For the twenty one century, FJAPANDI, also known as “Felipe J. Alvarado Group”, is a port agency in Costa Rica, that offer several services as a P&I club correspondent, ship brokers, P&I club survey inspection, and legal maritime services. FJAPANDI works for the whole centralamerican region, included Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.
• FJAPANDI has been there, working has port agency, ship agency and brokerage, across three centuries.
